Hair Max Mia Studio
Walt Disney's newest blockbuster, Tangled, is finally on DVD and Blu-ray. Those who only want the 3D version will have to wait, but no one else should hesitate to buy this movie. The classic and much beloved story of Rapunzel finally gets its Disney version, and it does not disappoint.
The hero of the story, Flynn, narrates the beginning of the movie, giving the viewers a bit of insight into how Rapunzel got that long flowing hair. A bit of sun falling to Earth created a magical golden flower that bloomed for centuries. Rapunzel's mother, the queen, got sick while she was still pregnant. This special flower was fed to the queen, and it healed her. Apparently, that healing power flowed through to her unborn child. So Rapunzel is born with a head full of magical golden hair that glows whenever a particular song is sang.
Disney Creates Another Wonderful Musical
The villain of the movie is an old woman (Mother Gothel voiced by Donna Murphy, doomed wife of Doc Ock in Spiderman 2) who originally found the flower centuries earlier and has used it to stay young. Realizing she can't cut the child's hair without destroying its power, she steals Rapunzel away and locks her in the tower. There she whiles away the next 18 years. As with most Disney movies before it, this movie is a musical. Don't let that scare you away though, since the music fits so perfectly in with the action, it's hardly even noticeable. Some of it is quite lovely.
